Carla Guggenheim, based in Michigan, USA, is a board-certified rheumatologist, dancer, Laban movement analyst, and scientist. She graduated from Michigan State University’s internal medicine residency and the University of Iowa’s rheumatology fellowship. She taught and performed Bharata Natyam (South Indian classical dance), French Baroque, and Italian Renaissance dance throughout her medical career. She incorporates Laban, Feldenkrais, Alexander, Sweigard, Bartenieff, and Gyrotonic. She teaches Tai Chi, and Qigong in the community and to her patients. She is a speaker for the Institute of Functional Medicine. Carla Guggenheim has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Dance Notation Bureau, New York, for over 30 years.
