Statutes
The organization has for purpose to promote the research and the dissemination of information concerning the Laban system of notation, which shall include, but not be limited to:
• guiding the unified development of Labanotation/Kinetography Laban “the Laban system” of movement notation;
• acting as the deciding body with regard to the orthography and encourage consistent standards of practice within the system, including coordinating collaboration among organizations using the system;
• promoting research into matters of notation which are likely to increase the efficiency and international usage of the system;
• disseminating information about the Laban system to all interested persons.
The organization shall organize and/or participate to all actions promoting the above mentioned purpose.
The International Council of Kinetography Laban (ICKL) was registered in July 2019 as a non-profit organization (“Association”) ruled by French Law of July 1st, 1901 and the Decree of August 16th, 1901, carrying out the activity of the international organization of the same name, created in 1959 in the United Kingdom under Lisa Ullmann and Albrecht Knust’s initiative.
Its headquarters are established in Paris (France), at MVAC Paris Quartier Latin, 4 rue des Arènes, 75005 Paris (mailing address only).

Internal Guidelines
Two internal guidelines rule various items which are not in the statutes, noticeably those related to the administration of the organization.
Those are the “Code of Regulations” and the “By-Laws”.
